Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that corrects droopy eyelids by removing excess skin, muscle, and sometimes fat from the upper or lower eyelids. It is one of the most commonly performed oculoplastic surgeries, providing both functional and aesthetic improvements.

The surgery effectively eliminates sagging that causes a tired, aged appearance and can even improve peripheral vision when upper eyelids significantly droop.

Nasıl yapılır?

The procedure begins with a detailed pre-operative assessment. Under local anesthesia, precise incisions are made along the natural creases of the eyelids. Excess skin, fat, and muscle are carefully removed or repositioned. The incisions are closed with fine sutures that follow the natural lid contour.

Upper blepharoplasty incisions are hidden within the eyelid crease, while lower blepharoplasty incisions are placed just below the lash line, making scars virtually invisible.

İyileşme süreci

Initial swelling and bruising subside over 1-2 weeks. Sutures are removed after 5-7 days. Most patients return to social activities within 10-14 days. Full recovery takes 4-6 weeks, with final results visible at 2-3 months.

Cold compresses, head elevation, and prescribed eye drops are essential during the first week. Strenuous activities should be avoided for 2-3 weeks.
